Sedona Labyrinth

New Labyrinth in Sedona
Free Soul President and Founder, Pete A. Sanders Jr., was commisioned by the Los Abrigados Resort and Spa in Sedona to design a Labyrinth for both Los Abrigados' guests and the public to utilize for reflective contemplation. The unique design (see below) was completed and the Labyrinth was opened to the public on Sunday, June 11th, 2006. It will eventually be the final destination of the Sedona Creek Walk (that starts in Uptown Sedona passes by Telaquepaque and will end at the Los Abrigados Resort).

The Los Abrigados “Go with the Flow” Labyrinth is unique. Instead of just returning you to your original starting point, the labyrinth walk transports you to a calmer place, the grassy knolls on the banks of Oak Creek .

The labyrinth has been specifically designed using Brain Science principles to maximize the inspirational and regenerative effects of using it.

Guests and visitors of all faiths are welcome to experience the calming and focusing effects of walking the labyrinth for, relaxation, prayer, meditation, and renewal.

Special Characteristics of the Los Abrigados
“Go with the Flow”
Labyrinth

For centuries labyrinths have been utilized by numerous cultures and faiths as tools for relaxation and contemplation. It is felt that walking the labyrinth’s path aids with introspection and finding contentment from wisdom within. Because of its special features, the Los Abrigados “Go with the Flow” Labyrinth does all this and more.

The Los Abrigados Labyrinth has been specifically designed by an M.I.T.-Trained Brain Scientist to maximize your ability to walk in harmony, and pull yourself out of the part of the brain that causes distress and anxiety (the limbic system). The paths and vegetation are constructed to quickly ease you into a reflective state.

The Go with the Flow Labyrinth’s layout is also unique on two levels. First, instead of just returning you to the same starting point (as is the case with most labyrinths), the Los Abrigados Labyrinth transports you to a soothing calmer environment. Second, the Los Abrigados Labyrinth has two distinct halves that symbolically mirror left and right brain function.

In your walk inward (on the left side of the labyrinth), you carry with you all your troubles. Your left brain knows your challenges, but each step takes you toward your center of peacefulness and wisdom.

From that center, you then walk outward (on the right side of the labyrinth). With each step you creatively reflect (right brain) on how to apply that inner calm to your life, both for handling your stresses with greater serenity and for trusting more fully in your faith.

When you exit, welcoming benches greet you, allowing you to review and record your experience. The soothing waters of Oak Creek add to your renewal. You can mentally release any remaining distress into the gently flowing current.

Finally, you can let your thoughts and feelings follow the waters to a new beginning; a reinspiration of your purpose and joy of living.
